Let’s face it. Your business would never be successful without the people element in it. This means that you can’t possibly attract the profits if you don’t have the attention of your prospects and clients. Your clients are THE most important factor that you need to consider when growing your business.
When marketing therefore, you must be aware of the people whom you need to attract to your business. This is what we call your target market. Your target market is the group of people who have a particular need for your kind of business. These people are the ones who are looking for solutions to their problems that you alone can provide in your industry.
Successful marketing then should consider as its priority the people who you would be targeting for your business. You need to determine your target market, and narrow them down to those who have the need for your service, as well as who has the capacity to purchase what you are offering. This then would be your niche market.
When determining your niche market, here are some of the things you need to consider to get you the right target clients:
1- Who are your target clients? Who would be interested in what you have to offer? Who would be attracted to your business card printing for example when they see what you have to offer listed in your color business cards? Prepare a list of your current and target clients so you can focus more on the design and layout of your marketing strategy to better attract your target group.
2- What keeps your competition busy? What are they presently focusing on? What kind of services and products do they offer your target market? Who are their target clients?
3- What can you offer your target clients that your competition or any other company has not been able to offer in the market?
So who are your target clients? They are the people who have a need for your particular type of product or service, and can afford to purchase them. They are looking for the offer that only you can provide and would be more than happy to turn to you for their own needs.
Identifying your niche market provides you with a better landscape by which you can base your business decisions especially when marketing. By knowing who your target market is, you can provide them with a targeted promotional tool that would make it difficult for them to ignore as this is precisely what they’re looking for in the market.
