Fancy a new music player? Then trawling through the iPod reviews is likely to add more confusion to the occasion. We take a look at what is available and unravel the jargon surrounding the very latest in music technology. The second generation iPod Touch is being billed as the most fun MP3 player on the market, but to make the most of all the fun there is to be had on it, the reviews are saying that users need to be near a Wi-Fi connection. Its appeal lies in the fact that it resembles the ever desirable iPhone and has a huge variety of apps that can be downloaded. As well as offering massive amounts room for every track in your collection, the Touch also offers a way of watching TV on the fly, but only if you're in a Wi-Fi zone. As this desirable device is only in its second generation, we are sure that Apple will continue to work wonders and improve an already great device. With that in mind, you would expect the new iPod Nano, now in its fourth generation to be a musical gadget that meets the desires of every music lover on the planet; especially after the slating the third generation received for its bulky size. Thankfully it is. With the exception of having no inbuilt radio, the Nano is getting rave reviews. The most exciting feature appears to be the shake to shuffle application, which allows the user to change to random without having to navigate music menus on the go. To add to this Apple have delivered a crisp albeit tiny screen to watch music videos. The new shuffle feature on the Nano is not to outdo the iPod that is designed for the purpose. The Shuffle is now in its third incarnation. Unbelievably the new version is half the size of the already miniscule device. It can hold up to 1000 tunes and has the capacity to talk to its owner. Yes, talk. The faithful Shuffle will tell you what track and artist is playing and the remaining battery time, which is said is around 10 hours per charge. The reviews do not state however if the smaller than AA battery sized device will shout 'help I'm over here' when it inevitably gets put down somewhere 'safe'! Whichever product you decide to go for, you can be assured that the new generation of each player is offering something bigger, or rather smaller, and better than last time. Quite how the following generations will offer more, it is hard to say.
